Canadas_History_Logo_-_English.jpg       YOUNG CITIZENS PROGRAM

The Young Citizens program, which focuses on citizenship, will be a complementary component of the Heritage Fairs (regional, provincial or territorial) during which, students will present the results of their research on Canadian heroes, legends and key events. Young Citizens will seek out 200 youths, aged 10 to 15, through a new interactive online program. Each participant will receive a digital video camera and will create a video report explaining the motive behind their subject choice, and how it relates to their roots and the history of their country. The youths’ projects will be posted online on the national Website youngcitizens.ca, which will be followed by a vote for the 80 best entries. The winners will receive internships with media professionals in their community in order to develop new skills and training in the creation of written, audio and video material on one aspect of citizenship. Through this program, History Canada will bring together communities on partnership projects, while allowing 200 youths to improve their historical knowledge and thus gain a better appreciation of Canada ’s history and heritage.

As we receive information about the YOUNG CITIZENS it will be posted on this page of our website.
